Meditation

Count your steps

Measure your breath

Walk the path

Consider your surroundings

Be kind to your thoughts

Expand your belly

Express your gratitude

Live in loving kindness

Count your steps

Measure your breath

Walk the path

But the path is long

And my surroundings are distracting

My thoughts are rough

My belly is resistant

My gratitude is tenuous

My love is selfish

But the path is long for a reason

And I can try again

Tomorrow

Desert Birth

You are about to give birth

To me

Your newest favorite daughter

And I will drink of you

Deeply

Though you may be waterless

You will sustain me

And I will thrive in you

And you in me

You are about to give birth

To hope

And nourishment and love

And I will drink of you

Deeply

Though you may be a far off land

I will bring you with me

Forever forward

Forever free

You are about to give birth

To the future

And I will drink of it

Deeply

Storm

Scurrying home

Stubborn race to safety

You mock my fear

And crackle brightly

Behind painted tidal waves

Nightmare from my youth

Amused by childish cowering

You gain strength as I drain

Where did you come from?

Did I create you?

I wonder if

I will dream of you tonight

Cliff

Hello you

I jumped off of you the other day

Falling in slow motion

Faith and time is all I have

But both are limited

And freedom is terrifying

I can only hope for a soft landing

Is that too much to ask?
